Nick Black-Born 1958, Chicago Illinois. Raised on the south side, around the corner from Hyde Park Art Center. Attended School Art Institute from 1978 to 1980. Received BA in Math from DePaul University 1983. Attended University of Illinois Chicago 1983 to 1984. Received MFA from Massachusetts College of Arts 1988. Have been in and around Chicago’s alternative space scene going back to the late 80’s. Gained a reputation for doing installation and temporary kinetic sculptures. Have shown extensively with Joymore (now in NYC) and Uncle Freddy’s Gallery, Hammond Indiana. Have been featured in art fairs, Art Chicago, Stray Shows, Art LA, Art Miami Hotel Shows. Toy art currently represented by Byron Cohen Gallery, Kansas City. Mr. Black artistic endeavors have always been closely linked to his friendship with Chicago underground legend, Michael Bulka. |
